Itacoatiara is 176 km/109 mi east by air or 270 km/167 mi. downstream by river from Manaus. It is the third most populous town in the state, on the bank of the Amazon River. The town is known as "city of painted stone" Itacoatiara has an important port, which is responsible for a considerable amount of cargo transportation in Amazonas.
...I can't wait to learn more about this area!
So I said my goodbyes and took a 4 1/2 hour jungle tour to ... Itacoatiara, my new area!!! Look it up on the internet. I feel like I have entered the "Manilla" (A small town in Dagget County, Utah. By Flaming George) of Manaus. It´s a small city (too small to have a stake),(Stake: a collection of churches - Wards), and just about everyone drives a motorcylce. We live above a pet shop, but our house is really pretty. We live with two other Sisters. I don´t have a lot of time to write today because of the transfer, but I wanted to say that I arrived safely. Our area touches the river, and you can see a lot of jungle surrounding the city.
Good thing we have the right perspective... We mailed her birthday package off October 20th! Her birthday was November 20th. I am just so grateful it wasn't lost or worse :) We have a Christmas package in route. Praying that she gets it in time. Just part of the sweet characteristics of serving so far away ♡
Also, I got your birthday package!!! #joy! The next week I think we may be traveling back into Manaus for our Christmas conference ... and this might happen on p-day, so I´m not 100% sure when I will write.
Love you all, happy week!
