Week 28

Makayla's 1st transfer!  Wow, she had been in the City of Manaus since she arrived July 5th.
Itacoatiara is 176 km/109 mi east by air or 270 km/167 mi. downstream by river from Manaus. It is the third most populous town in the state, on the bank of the Amazon River.  The town is known as "city of painted stone"  Itacoatiara has an important port, which is responsible for a considerable amount of cargo transportation in Amazonas.
...I can't wait to learn more about this area!

Ola família!

So I said my goodbyes and took a 4 1/2 hour jungle tour to ... Itacoatiara, my new area!!!  Look it up on the internet.  I feel like I have entered the "Manilla" (A small town in Dagget County, Utah.  By Flaming George) of Manaus.  It´s a small city (too small to have a stake),(Stake: a collection of churches - Wards), and just about everyone drives a motorcylce.  We live above a pet shop, but our house is really pretty.  We live with two other Sisters.  I don´t have a lot of time to write today because of the transfer, but I wanted to say that I arrived safely.  Our area touches the river, and you can see a lot of jungle surrounding the city.

Good thing we have the right perspective...  We mailed her birthday package off October 20th!  Her birthday was November 20th.  I am just so grateful it wasn't lost or worse :)  We have a Christmas package in route.  Praying that she gets it in time.  Just part of the sweet characteristics of serving so far away ♡
Also, I got your birthday package!!! #joy!  The next week I think we may be traveling back into Manaus for our Christmas conference ... and this might happen on p-day, so I´m not 100% sure when I will write.
Love you all, happy week!

Week 27

December 7, 2016

Makayla arrived in Brazil July 5, 2016, where she first learned how to be a missionary from her trainer...Sister Lima.  She was then assigned to stay with her new companion Sister Justino and start training her!  She has been in her area for 24 weeks.  Even I have become attached to her area.  May new fiends be forever connected ♡
It is weird to think that I will probably be leaving my area.  It´s been my whole mission thus far!  It will be hard to leave so many of the people that have become my friends.  Yet, I think that it is time for a change, ya know.

Missionaries get to skype or call home on Christmas and Mothers Day.  I can't wait!
I´m excited for Christmas!  I hope that I will remember how to speak English out loud, haha.  Overall, I am really enjoying my time here in Brazil, serving a mission.  As time passes, I always love what I am doing a little bit more.  It´s really strange to think that the seasons are passing for you guys!  I still sweat bullets every day, haha.

I love Makayla's advice.  It is so very applicable even outside of serving a mission.  I had been pondering something in my own heart and found this to be perfect♡
One thing that I am learning a lot about right now, is that we should never hold back!  We should always be willing to put ourselves in uncomfortable situations because we know that the Lord has got our back, and that he wants us to push ourselves and improve.  So go forward in faith!

This week I also heard some classic Christmas music in the shopping center.  It made me so very happy!!! Well, we´re off to the temple, it is going to be fabulous!

Love you all, have a wonderful week
